The red pistachios that used to be ubiquitous were a result of the stains and discoloration that used to result from manual hulling and drying processes.  The pistachios were dyed red to hide the blemishes!  Even after the California pistachio growers introduced machinery that allowed quick processing and natural looking pistachios, the industry continued to dye the pistachios red because that is what people expected.  For a while Art’s had both, “natural” and red.

Today, all of Art’s California Pistachios are naturally beautiful and delicious.  No dyes, chalks, powders, or any other funny business.  They are noticeable cleaner looking than most other pistachios out there.  Just pistachios and salt.  Enjoy!
